Ya know my impression of gun nuts is they’re isolated. They don’t know or really care about the dangerous side effects of gun violence because it hasn’t impacted them. I see urbanites who support gun control talked down to as if they don’t understand rural life and that may well be true but I wonder how well these people understand cities. Some of the staunchest supporters of gun control are elected officials who have seen first hand what gun violence does.

My impression of them is that they don’t know how reality operates. They think life and gun battles work the way they do in the movies, where you nail a perfect headshot without even trying, where no civilians get in the way, where you have 360-degree vision and always know where everyone is, where every shot that hits you is a flesh wound.

There’s a story on the “Not Always Right” website about a guy who goes into a gun shop and tells them he wants a gun so he can shoot a YouTube video of him curving a bullet around a friend’s head like they did in the movie “Wanted.” I suspect a lot of gun fanatics have no idea that reality doesn’t operate like movies do.
