The likelihood of us ever having a society where that was a viable choice is very low, but I don’t think there’s much objection to it. But it’s not anything we could actually approach as a real choice anytime soon.

I can easily imagine people about a century ago discussing medical technology of our day. How much would they have gotten wrong? The mere theoretical possibility leads us to a tenuous but worthwhile conclusion. That would be evacuation then adoption rather than abortion when desired by mom and practical or nearly so. The future possibility helps us explore our logic now. Just as a thought experiment for discussion of course, not policy.
