I have neighbors who are armed to the teeth. When I say neighbors,I don’t mean one household,I mean an entire extended family, in 6 separate houses on about 20 acres. The kids all get their own guns,shotguns and handguns,as gifts for various occasions. Been taught all the rules,gone hunting,go to the gun range,all that.

When my son was around 10 he came home from over there one day giving me a complete and detailed description of a shotgun,the shells,how to load it and shoot it. One of the many kids over there is about a year younger than he is,got the key to the gun locker and took the gun out to show off to my son(most likely to scare him,this kid is a nasty little shit,always has given my kid a hard time). Where the adults were I had no idea,I had always let him play over there precisely because the large family ensured that adults were always around. This is a kid who supposedly knows better and was taught better. A nine yr. old shouldn’t have unsupervised access to a freaking hunting or kitchen knife let alone a selection of guns. Needless to say this didn’t foster good neighborly relationships. I was pissed. I’m not scared of guns,I’m scared of assholes with guns.
