It was a state park - Goblin Valley State Park, but your point holds. There’s a reason that the National Parks closed when the govt shut down a few years back. There are assholes like the Bundy nuts who will shit all over federal lands, damage facilities and priceless artifacts for no reason other than their personal amusement or because they think they’re entitled to do so.

There’s also a reason that there are severe penalties for violating the Antiquities Act and laws regarding vandalism and other damage to federal lands.
