Boehner Doesn't Give a Fck: Repealing Obamacare Is Just "Happy Talk"

We lost count of how many times the GOP voted in the House to repeal Obamacare on Boehner’s watch. He didn’t mind enabling this crapwich.

His successor Ryan pulled the same crap - with the same results.

Now, with Trump in the White House, all those efforts to repeal have come screeching to a halt, because reality is that repealing Obamacare would be a stupendously bad thing. Not only would it be a huge budget hit - so bad that the GOP scrapped their “plan” because the CBO scoring was horrific:

but that repeal would end up hurting those currently insured and uninsured tremendously. They’d see their out of pocket costs soar, have reduced access to care and coverage, etc.

This is an entirely avoidable shit storm, but for the fact that the GOP is deranged and irrational when it comes to Obamacare. They’ve lost their goddamned minds over Obamacare - which incorporated the GOP’s own signature idea - the individual mandate. They attacked Obamacare on constitutional grounds over that idea, as well as the Medicaid expansion, and all of their efforts have resulted in fewer people getting covered. Those hardest hit? Those living in GOP dominated states that refused to expand Medicaid. Those were also the states that had the highest uninsured rates to begin with, including Texas.

So once again, the GOP lied and people died and that too is an indisputable outcome from all of this - the GOP plans invariably result in fewer people being covered, more restrictions, and more people ending up without coverage or foregoing care because of costs to point that some will become sick and die because of the lack of coverage or the costs (which will also result in a spike in medically induced bankruptcies that have declined since ACA was enacted).

Hospitals will also get screwed in all this, since they’ve seen their indigent care coverage costs decline as more people coming in for care have coverage.
