They are making it true by repeating it, which should scare the shit out of all of us. Veracity is not the standard of epistemology being applied: what’s “true” is what’s emotionally fulfilling in the moment.

This all-encompassing “Deep State” kudzu warblegarble is better looked at as a harbinger than an ethos. What they really want is deference to their whims, and anything but that is an existential threat. Since they have to explain away their failure as not their failures, and can’t concede either weakness or fallibility, the only out is to see a conspiracy so vast it encompasses everyone.

This is the dark side of “cannot fail, can only be failed.” The second half of that equation demands many sacrificial goats.

Yep, we in this country have already established just how gullible we are.
