Is this even legal? I guess you’d have to prove that Ailes used Fox resources to give his client free promotion.

Probably a dozen (or so) ways why it is (legal)

If they don’t meet/ talk while Ailes is in his “FOX” office, or Christie in the governors mansion
As long as they don’t agree on some quid=pro-quo deal (i.e. Chrsitie getting discounted ad space or preferential time slots on FOX affiliates come campaign time)

What ,,, you think this is the `1st Media Big Wig/ Politician Alliance !?!?!
