I just watched two documentaries that heavily addressed race. Both are recommended.

Crips and Bloods: Made In America

I thought this movie might be a little violence and gang bang porn. There are some images of violence for sure. But it does a good job if digging into the history of LA and the evolution of gangs. And, it humanizes the gang members without excusing or justifying the violence.

LA 92

This was compelling, also going through historical context in depth. I remembered some things, including my own thoughts and feelings at the time. But some new information was added.

Bonus Documentary: Oklahoma City

Examined the McVeigh and his motivations, and the event, but a lot of time spent reviewing the historical context of white supremacy and the right wing going back to Ruby Ridge, Waco/David Koresh, and even back to the murder of Alan Berg at the hands of white supremacists.
