So I guess John Barron called up Trump to tell him that he’s the bestest negotiator ever! In fact, Trump quotes someone who calls him the “Negotiator-in-Cheif” or something. Anyway, “Cheif” is trending. And by executive order, the “i-before-e” maxim will be abolished.

As someone who is spelling-challenged, I am sympathetic to certain spelling errors. The maxim is not just “i-before-e”, it’s “i-before-e except after c, or when pronounced as a as in neighbor or weigh” — or in “weird” or “leisure” or “seizure” or …… Exceptions rule in the English language.
