Well, on the other hand, when you apply the average Chinese death rate (713 per 100,000 inhabitants) to the population of Hubei (69 millions), you get an expected 81,000 “normal” deaths during the quarantine period. As I think no funerals where allowed during the quarantine, that makes about 81,000 urns for families to collect at the end of the period (to be fair, one should probably deduce the average number of traffic accidents, since the roads were empty). So the mere fact that a lot of urns are being collected now is not necessarily a useful indication per se.
Seems it is to the residents of Hubei, who know what normal looks like.
