Yes, it’s all in the preparation. When I was a kid brussels sprouts were generally boiled to within an inch of their lives, to the point where they were just weird-tasting mush.

Beets and turnips, though, they’re a whole nother story. Used to hate ‘em, still hate ‘em. I’ve never found a way to prepare either one of these horrible vegetable beasts that I could handle.
