It’s a quip, but there’s truth in there.
Bad shit happens to people who get twisted in their personal, idealized versions of things. People like the idea of a giant plot to keep everything bad/wrong because it’s easier than realizing the world is not just…and not just not just, but utterly indifferent to human passion, dreams, and ideals.
I always compare fascists to narcissistic individuals because the latter, too, have a kind of malformed romanticism that leads to becoming enraged when other people cannot match their grand narrative.
