I agree with Bill Kristol’s comments on the AIG bonuses:

“Can capitalism survive the behavior of some capitalists? It’s always been an open question. But if capitalism is to survive, shouldn’t the Republican party, the party that defends democratic capitalism, be particularly vehement in denouncing its excesses?”.

Capitalism can’t survive with government bailouts, prop-ups, stimulous packages and sundry programs. Capitalism works when failures fail. There is an entire Bankruptcy infrastruture to ensure this.

The “behavior of some capitalists” is the direct result of government welfare.
