BTW—for everyone excited by the fact that the NYT got rid of Kate Spayd as Public Editor—they not only got rid of Spayd, they eliminated the Public Editor altogether.

Sulzberger wrote Wednesday that “our followers on social media and our readers across the internet have come together to collectively serve as a modern watchdog, more vigilant and forceful than one person could ever be.”

Yeah, because the Times has been SO responsive to reader input. Spit.

Supposedly, they’re going to have a a “Reader Center” announced on Tuesday, that could serve as an accountability mechanism. Wonder how that will work out…
