Thanks everyone. Have to admit I was kinda blasi (siq) about doing it until it really hit me just what it was I actually had to do. The brakes went on and I told the Mate that we WERE NOT going to do this until I had some training from a qualified professional. If s/he feels I am incapable of doing it, well, we’ll figure out how to proceed from there. I think I can do it. Just need the proper training. It still scares the shit out of me. Probably why I was a Electronics Tech Tech instead of a medic.

I hope it all goes well for you and the Mate. But damn it, is there any other country in the advanced world where the spouse or significant other has to perform this kind of medical work, while the pros stand aside because … um, insurance? Even in the middle of the last freakin century this wouldn’t have happened. But we as a nation and as human beings have gone insane about what matters and what doesn’t.
