When they say they don’t want to pay for other people’s care, they mean no one.

This attitude appeals to all the components of the modern Republican party:
1. The very wealthy who hate any taxes that don’t directly benefit them.
2. The libertarians, who believe in each person for themselves.
3. The deeply religious, who believe that all good comes from G-d and only religious institutions should be involved in helping others. After all, if the state can be a more efficient means of helping others, many may not see any reason to pay money and homage to religious leaders.
4. The racists who don’t want to pay anything to help those others.

Did this list overlook any in the Republican base?
