That’s true either way, the schism exists so the question is whether winning is more important than having a soul.
I would really hate to see the GOP suffer the fate of Canada’s Conservatives in the early 1990’s, who suffered a major schism and were out of power for 15 years before they could finally come together again.
But they did come back, and as a more sane, consistent, popular and electable party overall. You’d hate to see it because all you’re interested in is winning, not creating an intellectually healthy, long term viable political organization.
