My feeling is that if some degree of freedom in the US is derived from being able to exploit the decency of a neighbour, then that particular crutch shouldn’t be supported by an elected official.
If people are forced to buy meds from Canada, then I say, do it. If staying alive means leaning on a country with a terrestrial border and a superior social welfare system then do what you have to do.
Don’t then get pissy at elected officials who vote as if there can exist an alternative policy that would bring down prices in the US.

Well, Canadians are allowed to buy medications here. I wonder why so few do that?

This vote specifically is anti-competition. If there were a surge of Americans purchasing medications from Canada, Canadian firms would increase productions, as firms do when they have an increase in demand.
