Years ago — after Enron and the dissolution of Arthur Andersen, I listened to a report on the news station while driving home. Another accounting firm had developed a fundamentally illegal way to evade taxes: their pitch to their clients was that it was so complicated, no one in the government would be able to figure it out.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Trump Organization has been involved in illegal activities for decades, but no governmental body had the time or skills to untangle their violations of the law. I think it’s time that someone finally accomplishes this and sends the Trumps all to prison for lengthy periods.

Leona Helmsley was famous for saying “only little people pay taxes” but she ended up in prison nonetheless. The Trumps should face the same sentence; otherwise there is no justice. That said — if they were stripped of all their assets, that may be sufficient punishment.

Are we to start with the Trumps, or warm up with the thieves who looted the country in the waning days of the GWB administration?
