If you conducted any sort of study and could use 7% of all people in the country for your study, that would be a massive cohort. That’s a study of about 17 million people.
That said, Twitter also skews more Democratic, more educated, and younger than the populace at large (plus people self-select to be on Twitter). The top 10% who are the most prolific on Twitter still represents about 1.7 million people.
