Let me guess. “Exponential progression” is not on Republican-mandated standardized tests, so few red-staters have learned about in the past 35 years. Might explain their gullibility about the low initial numbers. “Compare that to the flu! It’s all a hoax!”

“I’m not sick! It’s all a hoax!” is gonna sound really hollow in months time, when they’ve either gotten sick, seen people get sick in their lives, or (in a lot of cases) lost someone to the virus. Of course, that’s when they’ll be screaming at the experts who “lied” to them and “didn’t do enough” to stop the outbreak.
