What should someone who’s never shot a handgun, and last shot any firearm 30 years ago at Scout camp, do, especially when they live in the most Confederate-aligned county in their entire very-Union (or at least Pacifican) state?

Stay indoors and out of sight, pay attention to local news, contact trustworthy neighbors and find out what resources they may have. Discourage any rash action on their part. It is likely that many National Guard, and some regular, units will disobey pro-coup instructions from the Pentagon. It may be possible to contact them with information. State police will be more reliable than locals and much more reliable than Republican sheriffs. The latter should be considered part of the MAGAt forces until shown otherwise.
