And yes, I know we’re supposed to detest and mock everything President Obama does, on pain of excommunication, but as Commander in Chief he deserves congratulations for handling this one just right.

It’s obviously wonderful that the United States Navy rescued the American captain back from the pirates. As Commander in Chief, Obama will certainly take credit for the actions that led to the Captain’s safe return. It’s good to see the President be successful at something other than campaigning.

But I’m waiting to throw out the “He got it just right” byline when he’s taken out a few of the pirate training camps and instilled a back chilling fear of the United States in general among the khat chewing bandits who so easily tie up the shipping lanes off Cape Horn. Toasting Obama for the Navy doing its job according to standing ROE that Obama had nothing to do with is a bit premature, imo. If that captain had not been returned in tact, sans ransom, this episode wouldn’ve been an epic fail for Obama. Maybe now he’s learned that the American Military is a good thing.
