They are important, as many wipers I know have worked there way up to at least Deck Machinst or Refrigeration Engineer in MSC so far… Not to mention they do the job of making sure the rag bins and trash is taken out every night, the clean rag bins are full of clean rags, the deck and machinery is kept clean and free of leaking oil, and sometimes they assist us in repairing machinery when we need them.
