It’s a super daunting task, to undertake a deep lineage. I am hardly an expert at it. On my paternal side, several years ago one cousin (there are many of us) undertook an effort and fleshed out some of it in the old countries (including a line in England back to the 17th century and Norway in the 18th century.) On my maternal side, a second cousin filled in some spots going back to nearly the Revolutionary war, in parts (I have that documentation now, but haven’t studied it.)

Like I said, one never knows what one will find. If you have any ancestors that lived in this country since the 1700’s than you and I are probably distantly related, or if you have any ancestors back in Norway or England likewise.

Indeed, I wouldn’t be surprised that if all of us here traced our ancestors back 10 generations at least half of us would be related in that span.

Scary thought, eh?
