Hell, a lot of Americans have trouble with regional accents.

I live in the UK. Many Brits will assume you’re Canadian without even trying. They really can’t tell the difference between the non-regional American and Candian accents. To be far it can be hard. We are just separated slightly by how the Canadians emphasize certain vowels like the Scots.
