Looking forward to the flood of House retirements (mostly GOP), but a few elderly House Dems in safe seats may retire to allow for a younger replacement. The Freedom Caucus just isn’t used to being in the minority. And in a Congress not bound by the Hastert Rule, they may find themselves even more sidelined. So why stay? In the old days of legislating, there was still pork you could hand out in exchange for a vote for something the majority wanted. Also looking ahead to 2020 with it’s even bigger electorate can’t be fun at all. It’s a pretty safe bet that the same people who came out this time will come out when its time to defeat Cheeto. No GOP congresscritter will want to be buried under what may be a bigger Blue Wave.

I don’t know about the Freedom Caucus… they might just enjoy the… um, freedom… of being able to stand on the sidelines and throw shit at the Democratic majority.
