Text lacks a whole bunch of nuance. Only face-to-face book has it all. And even then some gets missed.

And you can see if the remark landed wrong, and can say something quickly to correct the impression. Plus you can identify those people who can NOT understand sarcasm, and avoid letting fly. I have a long time friend, and you might as well hit her upside the head with a dead fish as make a sarcastic remark to her.
