I’m “on” a live album: the Kinks’ The Road. Part of it was recorded at Philly’s Mann Music Center in 1987.

REM gave two of the best and one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen.

Saw Tom Petty like 5 times. The Heartbreakers were unreal. That band could just turn on a dime without even thinking.

I saw REM in a little club in Atlanta in 1983 and they were great. It was a benefit, though, and so they played a lot of covers. I saw them a couple of years later in the Fox Theater and they just couldn’t get their sound right. It was a shame.
