it would never be anything as feeble as ‘time with the family’

- he already is a loser - everybody knows the presidency is a disaster and his reelection chances are slim to none
- if before the convention, he’d be the first (i think) to have the votes to win the nom and up and quit (i dont think anyone ever has). certainly the first incumbent
- if after the convention, again he’d be the first to win the nom and then up and quit

either way he’s a quitter

maybe he could manufacture some bogus health excuse.
but even that - given the corner he painted himself into being so strong, healthy etc, he’d still be a quitter
