re: #1445 nickzi

Am I supposed to regale you with a master thesis of improvement. This is a response to Charles original post. We may have gotten side-tracked, but to change the subject and put the onus on me when I thought I'd done a pretty good job explaining my disagreement, is a little silly.

Just to help the process along, I will tell you what the Republicans need to do. I don't f-ing know. If the American people want certain things paid for and gauranteed by the government, I don't know what their options are other than to be Democrats-lite and try to slow down the bankruptcy of the country. I don't know where the pulse of America is at, because it seems like more time is spent shouting down a Beck or Rush, then fighting formative legislation that will put us on the hook for a buttload of money, with little more than a promise that it'll work out fine and a wink from Obama. I don't hate the guy, I don't wish him ill, and I want him to be successful, just not with his current legislative agenda. It's hard when you disagree with so much of what a president puts forward to not fall into the habit of being the party of no. However, Do you see the media lining up to interview Steele and other prominent republicans on their ideas? I know for a fact that there are alternative plans by Republicans that aren't even seeing the light of day in the Senate and House, because they don't have the votes to even get them to the floor. It's Republicans fault and is a function of the move to the fringe, but how the hell am I supposed to know how to fix it. I'm some anonymous poster on the internet. If I knew how to fix it, I wouldn't be here, I'd be advising some candidate and raking in money hand over fist.

I wish you'd stick to the very narrow issue I brought up and not gallantly ask me to prove you wrong on some non-sequitir question that doesn't pertain to what the Republicans should do. The issue between us if I'm seeing it right is who is mainstream, who is not, is the entire party just beholden to Rush and Beck, etc. Maybe the establishment of the party is, but I'm saying there are far more people who are fed up, but don't know what to do about it, but don't think the right wants cavewomen, no science, anarchy-type libertarianism, etc. which Charles in his post (on topic you know) said is what they wanted. The only one of those I've dealt with is hearing the socialist meme and hatred of Obama, and I'll go on the record as being wholly against that. The rest is a caricature of the right, that is over the top, and I'll risk sounding psycho-analytical in saying that I think it's because of all the hatred directed at Charles from the over-represented and loud fringe. That doesn't mean that they are as abundant as Charles makes it seem. The fringe on both sides is angry, loud, and usually well funded, so they can seem bigger than they are.
