A minor point and a day late: I want to return to the John Oliver takedown of Kavanaugh this Sunday: after much thought, I found Oliver’s treatment of the calendar needlessly cruel and unfair. For whatever reason, the father decided having a detailed calendar was a useful tool for the family and it was important to Brett to emulate his father. It does not help our cause when we mock someone who was a teenager at the time for trying to live up to his father’s expectations and model himself in his father’s footsteps. It remains important to Brett; we shouldn’t abandon compassion.
