SRSLY: If the State Constitution specifies that an appointed Senator has to be of the same Party as their predecessor, why shouldn’t the voters have to follow the same rule for an elected one?

You jest but I remember a Wingnut insisting Souter needed to retire under Dubya because a Republican appointed him.
