From what I’ve read on Nixon (growing up in Yorba Linda it’s kinda hard not to be at least slightly interested in him), 1960 broke him in a lot of ways. He became paranoid, convinced that the Kennedys (or somebody) were out to get him. That paranoia, more than anything, led to Watergate. He was going to win in a landslide, but that didn’t matter, because he had to be sure.
