The rest of the time we just sit at home. Despite my low income we can take such trips because a) cheap car to drive and b) we don’t spend diddly when we’re home.

I live on the scenic Middle Rhine, where people come on vacation. And lately I have been getting paid to escort busloads of tourists to destinations like Heidelberg, Strasbourg and Luxembourg, which is almost like being on vacation, especially after we drop them off with the local guides and get to go poke around on our own.
