One thing these house-selling-buying-renovating shows do, in their goals to drive people to spend lots of money at the Home Depot etc., is to train people with buzzwords.

One that is very common is “granite”, as in granite countertops.

Most shows have couples seeking “granite” countertops.

But they are not granite. Not real granite. Most of those countertops look like fused quartz to me, and they probably are (and not a bad thing, fused quartz is a great invention for tops.) A few may be other kinds of stone.

But the marks/consumers now all want “granite”, instead of tile, so off they run to spend lots of money for these new countertops.
