The Q-inspired assassination of Frank Cali was the first rub-out of a made Gambino Family man in decades and the first of the actual boss since 1985. In recent years, the Gambinos have been very careful about high profile violence but the mob is still the mob. The extraordinary nature of the Cali hit and the stature of the victim make retaliation absolutely necessary to maintain credibility. I suspect the family will take its time, do its homework and then strike very hard. They have a habit of doing the unexpected, too, so events could become very interesting indeed.
I don’t think Q itself will be a target, partly because I agree with more informed analysts that Q is not one person, but a GRU working group. Mid level Q figures are likely targets, with perhaps several being hit at once in an audacious show of power, something tailored to make an impression on garden variety goobers rather than other mobsters. The Gambinos maintain contacts with Italian mobsters so I would not be surprised to see foreign participation in the Cali revenge hit(s).
