Jesus also said that He didn’t come to set up an earthly kingdom, but a heavenly one. That hasn’t dissuaded the Christian nationalists from advocating that we’re a Christian nation and we need to institute Christian morality in our legal code.

We call the period where Christians ruled The Dark Ages for a reason.

Of course, religion is going to shape our sense of morality and that in turn is what shapes our laws.

Religions hijack morality and claim they invented it. People are moral because they are moral.

This is the reverse of the argument many Christians of all sects (and other religions) use to claim atheists are not moral.

“Without the Bible and the Ten Commandments, what keeps you from raping and killing?”

If you need the Bible to not do those things, I sincerely do not want you to give up your religious beleifs.
