Fascism would have succeeded if (a) Hitler did not take the opportunity to attack Russia and (b) if our President were a Trump rather than a Roosevelt. The fact that it did not succeed in the last century does not mean it can’t succeed in the current world.

That’s the thing; a Hitler who wouldn’t attack the Soviet Union wouldn’t have been Hitler. It was the heart of his ideology. Fascism always carries the seeds of its own destruction, as we are seeing in Russia, where Putin is destroying the Russian army in his irrational pursuit of empire.
