Yes and Flags of Our Fathers released in the same year was hardly gung-ho pro-war. It really got heavily into how Ira Hayes got treated like a hero but then as his 15 minutes of fame ended, he became an alcoholic and many people just forgot about him. I have a special weakness for that film since one of my grandmother’s hometown residents was one of the six flagraisers, Michael Strank. She always said we were related to the Stranks somehow too given that her father and Mike’s family came from the same town in Slovakia.
