I think it is crystal clear that there is a dog whistle being blown loudly that encourages the kind of thing that happened today. Anybody who blows that whistle deserves to own the mess that results from it. Anybody.

The thing is, no elected figure or candidate on the left is blowing that whistle. This is a peculiar feature of the right today.

A liberal politician that started saying things like “second amendment remedies”, “don’t retreat, reload”, and “stay armed and dangerous” just couldn’t win an election. Not in a million years.

There is no balance here. People are encouraging political violence in american politics, and it has the effect of ratcheting up the danger of violence occurring, on either side. I could see a left wing nutjob doing something similar as a response to that exact same rhetoric, out of fear that the right is about to start shooting liberals. After all, thats the general thrust of such talk.

If you ask for political violence, you will get it from somewhere. There’s hundreds of millions of people in this country. Talking about secession, civil war, and revolution, whoever you are, is juuuust this side of treason. Frankly i’m amazed nobody has been arrested yet for attempting to foment a revolution.
