Republicans Bitterly Disappointed as Plot to Deprive Millions of Health Care Fails Bigly

Greets and saluts from the Resistance in the NYC metro area. A significant win last night from Democrats and a handful of GOPers, including Collins, Murkowski and McCain who voted to preserve health coverage for tens of millions of Americans.

This should have been a no-brainer that never left committee, but the GOP leadership is absolutely committed to destroying the safety net and gutting health coverage for Americans. None of the GOP seem to understand how insurance, let alone health insurance works (where people who are in good health help subsidize those who are ill - and actuaries are able to help identify how much money is needed to keep the insurance plan solvent). It’s math - and the GOP doesn’t do math, except when it involves tax cuts for the rich, in which case they’re always for it.

Health care is tough, and Trumpcare shows that the GOP never cared about an actual replacement for Obamacare. It was always vaporware/malware.

But let’s not cheer and move on just yet. The GOP and this administration are so craven and intent on destroying the signature achievement of Obama, that they’ll be back at this yet again before we know it.

The only way to stop this madness?

VOTE THE GOP OUT OF OFFICE.

That means voting in the midterms and every fucking election at every fucking level every time. Every election matters, and there’s no delicate way of putting it. Every fucking vote matters because the GOP will use voter apathy, voter suppression, and every trick in the book to destroy functioning government at every level.

We’ve seen it on a daily basis with Trump and the GOP at the federal level, but it’s also insidiously apparent at the state and local level too - see Kansas.
