I have seen this argument from the radical Christian Right for years. The notion is that evolution is a Satanic philosophy that is directly contrary to God’s Law and leads to permissiveness, atheism and the eventual destruction of civilization’s foundations because we are relegated to the status of animals instead of beings created in God;s image.

Therefore, violence, communism, fascism, drug use, promiscuity etc are all fruits of evolution theory and as a side effect lead to increasing liberal gub’mint handouts and judicial tyranny as a godless liberal government tries to fill in for the void created by kicking God out of his proper role as the fountainhead of American society.

The mode of thought is very Jacobean, actually, since it assumes a perfectable society if we only get rid of (fill in blank)…
