That’s the thing about him isn’t it? He expects absolute loyalty to him but does not show loyalty to anyone else. Look at Sessions. He was the first Senator to back him which was really a risky move on Sessions part in a way, not praising Sessions at all mind you but I think you catch my drift. Meanwhile Sessions has been treated like he betrayed him because of the recusal. I mean Sessions might be a bigot but he’s certainly not as stupid as Trump is in that he knows that if he had refused to step aside, it would be bad for him too.

It’s not even a question of loyalty. I’ve no problem with a candidate saying they wouldn’t support a nominee if they believed that person wasn’t qualified or had some disqualifying position/characteristic. It’s just that he showed himself to be an asshole in that moment and the party loyalists who where in the crowd cheered. It was Trump’s party from that moment on.
