It’s WRINGER not “ringer”

Kids these days, do they not understand the origin of words?
THIS IS A WRINGER:
Didn’t y’all have one of these in the laundry room to squeeze the water out of the clothes after boiling them up in the vat? Don’t tell me about no newfangled “spin cycle”

My mother used to have Westinghouse washing machines that had the tub with the agitator in it and the wringers on the top back. It had the hose that you had to put up in the ring at the top so it was above the water level in the tub.

We had the two big metal laundry tubs and she would go from the washer to one wringer into one tub and then from that tub to the wringer to the next tub. That was the two rinse cycle.

Then you would take the hose and pull it out of the holder and put the head of it down the floor drain to empty the washer’s tub.

She never wanted a “modern” washing machine. She loved those old wringer types. She worked with those all the way until she passed away back in 1980.
