re: #140 Citizen K

Half the problem is that infiltrating things in the same way and same degree as the right has requires a stark lack of standards, morality, and general humanity. If the last decade or so has proven anything to me, it’s that so much of our institutions rely on a thin assumption of good faith on all sides, and the right has masterfully weaponized that to the point that any attempt to act against them, in good faith or bad, will always be tarred as the worst of bad faith while their craven cynicism will always be uplifted and exalted as the best of good faith. It’s all completely self-feeding right now.

- they successfully changed the definition of ‘politics’

- the business of politics was to negotiate agreements between groups of different interests with the object of finding a common way forward.

- today, only D’s buy into this premise. R’s market power, domination, and force of will.

- They perverted politics from a clash of value systems, each of which is in some way valid; a competition between basically well intentioned people who see the world differently…

into a tribal, degenerative, brutal struggle for office in which the R’s, with righteous indignation believe only the D’s are capable of, and in fact do behave despicably.

- And they are using this perversion to oppress, deny humanity, and even the right to exist.
