Sold 22 library of America volumes to somebody on eBay for 200 bucks, “free” shipping. Figured I’d come out around 160 on my end. Nope. First, eBay calculated my final valuation fees WITH SALES TAX TO INCLUDED. Yes, they literally charged me a 15% fee on the state sales tax the guy paid. And my “free” shipping meant I was in the hole for around 25 bucks starting out. Fees were 32.24. In other words, my overhead for selling on ebay wound being roughly 1/3rd of what I sold the damned thing for.
