I’m not saying all relationships involving a power imbalance ought to be prohibited, but that you can argue that familial relations would constitute ones that do.

I don’t see why that would be so, though. Posing a possibility that there can be no consent between close relatives does not amount to showing that it is true. And until this vague concept is proven, there is no case for denying consenting adults their rights.

The main reason I care about it is for parent-child incest, where it’s far more likely to have begun in coercion and continue in the shadow of that coercion, and that can be impossible to prove due to, well, the coercion.

I don’t foresee epidemic outbursts of such cases. Shit that always happened will continue to happen. And punishing people who do it without any sort of abuse because of a vague possibility of such a scenario is not fair.
