You know, if someone has served their time, it seems they’ve paid their debt to society and shouldn’t be permanently frozen out from participation in our representative democracy. It’s not that difficult a concept.

Small caveat: I would be willing to make exceptions for convictions of crimes relating to the election process, such as voting fraud - attempting to tamper with election outcomes should result in the loss of participation rights.
