I still prefer polling places. Such strike me as more reinforcing of the idea that voting is a social activity.

I’m not a big fan of mail-in voting although for people with serious health issues, it may be the only option. There is no guarantee that the ballot is actually cast by the person registered. Years ago, I learned that a cousin voted on behalf of his ailing mother and his votes were exactly the opposite of what she would have done. People could move out of state and someone aware of this could vote on their behalf.
